Yoga Poses That Aid Your Recovery

Yoga Benefits Everyone, in Recovery or Not.

Exercise, in general, is super important for the mind and body. It gives you more energy, makes you fit and healthy, and lowers the chance of diseases. It’s also super important in recovery.

People in recovery have a hard time adjusting to life without drugs or alcohol. And it’s totally understandable because their life was revolved around that before they got sober. Exercise is suggested in recovery because it helps with their health, makes them active and takes their mind off negativity. It also decreases daily stress and makes them more focused and present. There are several forms of exercise, but this article will be touching on yoga and yoga poses.

Benefits of Yoga in Recovery

  • Stress Relief

We all get stressed sometimes. It’s life. But what’s amazing when we do get stressed and frustrated, is we can do yoga. And yoga will help balance our mood and push the negatives to the side. It’s a natural remedy and it’s great feeling relaxed and optimistic when we’re finished with our yoga practice.

  • Increase Energy and Strength

It’s not all about stretching, yoga has some challenging practices as well. And those usually help strengthen your muscles in different parts of your body. You need to get ready for bikini season, right? You’ll feel great after a strengthening yoga practice, and you’ll have more energy as well. Practicing yoga gives you better physical stigma and strength.

  • Self-Confidence and Self-Image

You’re going to feel great about yourself afterward. If you really focus on your body and mind through yoga, you’re going to feel good about yourself. And if you keep it up, you’ll notice the little things start to improve. The yoga practices will become easier. You’ll notice the pose you had trouble with before will become easier. You’ll feel better about your body and your confidence.

  • Better Sleep

There’s no doubt that some of us have insomnia or problems sleeping. But when you practice yoga, you feel more relaxed and at peace. It helps your breathing, focus, stress, and helps you fall asleep faster.

  • Pain Relief

Do you have a headache? Sore muscles? Constipation? There’s a yoga routine for that. There’s yoga for everything. If you have pain in your body, do a yoga pose that helps that pain. My favorite yoga Youtube channel is Yoga with Adriene (click here). She has a yoga video for everything. I mean it. A broken heart, anxiety, mood swings, energy, wrist pain, neck pain, e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. I promise this article isn’t sponsored by her. I love her so much and everyone needs to subscribe and watch her videos.
