Inpatient or Outpatient: What’s Right For Me?

What’s the Difference?

inpatient or outpatient

Inpatient refers to patients that are admitted to a rehabilitation center. They do on-site groups, meetings, follow-ups, counseling, and look after you and your health while you’re admitted. Inpatient targets those who require more attention or who have a riskier health issue.

Outpatient refers to patients that are not admitted to a rehabilitation center. It can be cheaper, and you won’t have on-site counseling, meetings or follow-ups. You can continue working at your job, continue your everyday life and not be interrupted by anything. You’ll still be able to attend meetings every week and see a therapist, but you’ll receive less intensive care compared to being an inpatient. Outpatient targets those who require less attention or who have a less dramatic health issue.

Consider Inpatient Programs…
-When you have tried to recover on your own and failed
-If you notice severe withdrawal symptoms from your body
-When you feel you’ve hit rock bottom
-If you live in an area that is motivating or pressuring you to keep using
-If outpatient programs didn’t work for you
-If you’re medically incapable of living off site
-If you are without a home
-If you think this is the best decision for yourself
