Thinking About Treatment?
It’s not an easy thing to admit, but once you’ve decided to go, you’re already halfway there. There are probably several things going on in your mind right now… Where do I start? How do I decide on a detox program? Should I travel for treatment or stay local? Well, my friend, I’m here to answer your questions. And if there’s more questions or concerns you have, call us at 855-737-7363 and we can address them.
Why You Should Travel For Treatment
One of the toughest decisions is where to go. You can look online and find several different programs for you, but how can you actually DECIDE on one? It’s important to pay attention to the key components: insurance, reputation, location, and accreditation.
Surprisingly, a lot of people travel for detox. If you’ve ever watched Intervention, every client they do an intervention for travels for their treatment program. Even with treatment programs that aren’t promoted on air, like us, clients travel for.

Reasons to Travel for Treatment
- You get to start over. Traveling for detox means getting sober in an unfamiliar area. You can make new sober friends, start a fresh new life and you won’t have family or friends to distract you from your recovery. You’d be on your own schedule and making the best of your new life with minimal personal distractions.
- There’s a better success rate. If you stay local, it’s easy to quit or give up faster. If you travel for treatment, you’re bound to that new area. It makes it harder to give up and go back home. You’ll have a better time traveling because you get to focus and put all your effort into making it work.
- You might not get the professional help you need staying local. According to a study from SAMHSA, out of more than 14,000 addiction treatment facilities in the country, fewer than 10% offer certified treatment programs for opioid addiction. (SAMHSA.GOV)
- It could protect your reputation. If you’re taking a leave off work, it might help to travel somewhere else so your personal life is protected and it will save you from potential embarrassment.
- If the cost is the only thing pulling you back, you can work it out with treatment programs. Depending on if you’re paying out of pocket or through insurance, you might be able to work out a deal with your treatment facility to lower your costs.
